Philippa has 16 years’ teaching experience in primary education, 10 of which have been spent as a Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) in several village and town primary schools. For the last 3 years Philippa has been a Special Needs Advisory Teacher (SNAST) supporting SENCO’s throughout South Oxfordshire.
Philippa has gained additional qualifications in advanced educational practice in Literacy Difficulties from Oxford Brookes University and is an Associate Member of the British Dyslexia Association (AMDBA).
In addition to implementing the New SEN code of practice in three primary schools, Philippa has successfully applied for Education Health and Care Plans and Additional funding. She has supported families with their children’s entrance to Special School placement and works closely with outside agencies to achieve positive outcomes for the children.
Philippa is expert in the use of a wide range of academic assessments for the identification of pupil’s needs and for pinpointing the most appropriate intervention for the individual. Philippa understands the importance of monitoring these interventions and their impact on the progress of the vulnerable learner. She has worked for the Dyslexia Assessment and Intervention Service providing specialist advice for pupils with Literacy Difficulties.
